Very good largely francophone cast on this CD means that you can understand every word of what is happening. Very enjoyable, pity about the Battenberg cake front cover (What was the designer thinking?)

That unfortunately is the problem, it is not a well known or popular opera. The fact that this release is a "live" 2013 Salzburg Festival performance and not a "studio" recording is the result. I am only aware of one studio recording to date the EMI Levine, I will probably get the Netrebko version "used" when price cools off.....
The Tutto Verdi video is fortunately one of the very best of the series with Svetla Vassileva doing a fine job as Giovanna
As it was in the Opera Lively top 100 recommended operas list, I was a little surprised at the lack of recordings available. So when this came up, more so with Anna in the cast, I jumped at it. I'm very happy with the purchase, though for GBP18 I would have thought it would come in the normal jewel case and not cardboard sleeves.
Yes, I endorse that. It's the version I own, and it is a fine one.
