Are you on Twitter? Vaughany is brilliant. Had a running gag with photos of Tuffers as some sort of Vaughany stalker. Was finally taken away in handcuffs by a couple of real life bobbies. Anyway the stalker is baaaaack!

No, it sounds too complicated for me.
Oh absolutely brilliant; so many beautiful melodies and a good cast.
I am so glad we did the favourite operas thread. If Mascagnian and Mario hadn't listed this I might not have picked up on it. If we did the list again now this would rank high in my recommendations.
I also love the label deutsche harmonia mundi. They are recording some very good productions and selling at a very reasonable price.

It has some losses; Arnalta is not as funny, Nero loses some of the tenderness that makes his behaviour acceptable, Senenca loses some majesty and much of the opera is lost by the shortened version. I am not satisfied by the ending (pur ti miro) so inevitably have to put on the Cavina recording for just that song (the wife also agrees the Cavina Pur ti miro is stunning).
That said, I think that this opera has so much, clip the wings, let the tires down, whatever, it is still a stunning opera and I would happily pay a hundred dollars for a ticket to this production (though I would need a time machine and suitable vintage clothing).
YOU MUST GET THE CAVINA RECORDING!!!!! This is a TOP TEN recording!!! BUY IT NOW!!!
