Oh my! I think Natalie's daughters took possession of her account!
We can tell this post was authored by them rather than by Natalie because the poor little darlings are obsessed with food, given that their mother starves them in order to save money for CDs, DVDs, and trips to Australia to see der Jonas in person.

Having listened to Pyrrhus last week, I thought I'd go back and listen to cross dressing Achilles and Deidamia (sometimes wearing a dress is just more comfortable).
Handel: Deidamia

Well, we don't need to go there. Thankfully my town has the Siena Hotel with the Il Palio restaurant.

Kidding. I've visited only twice and would go back every year if I could.

Back to Handel.
Trying to fight urge to buy new Naive Tamerlano with Sabata.
Whilst it is on sale at PC.
Or for any reason.
Being a newbie, I'll list the last few days' treats: last night was the Met DVD of Le Comte Ory; the night before, the 1982 Met Ernani (Pav, Milnes, Mitchell) and earlier a new favorite, La Favorite with Kate Aldrich and Yijie Shi. And earlier, similarly releases of the 2012 and 2013 Richard Tucker Galas (DVDs), which to me are near sensory overloads!
There are times that life can be very good, friends!

And tonight we just finished watching that absolutely wonderful opera gala from Baden Baden with Netrebko, Garanca, Vargas and Tezier. If there's a better concert gala on disc, I'd be amazed. (With a very inexpensive yet yummy wine from CA called Menage a Trois. No comments, please; we entertained no guests)
Oh yes. Anna at her sexiest...
If you read our interview with maestro Armiliato, you'll see a reference to this occasion, which is pretty funny... Read what we discussed, and then watch again what maestro does at 3:24 for some three seconds...

I am so NOT going to post what first came to mind! But you are right in so many ways, ma'am.
Having a bit of a Tristan extravaganza since my "conversion" a few weeks ago. How could I ever have thought it was disjointed noise? was I deaf?

And in honour of der boy I went to see last week:
You know it's funny, I'm quite happy with a series of arias from different operas on disc, but I found the experience of listening to them in a concert hall rather unsatisfying. It brought home to me that for me opera is most definitely NOT pure music; I need the context of the dramatic development and the characters and libretto to get the full emotional impact. Even der Jonas with his unparalleled story-telling abilities couldn't quite move me, except for his aria from La Forza del Destino and that's really only because I had been watching the production with him and Harteros the previous night.
If there ever is a next time I sincerely hope he does a lieder cycle. Winterreise would be perfect.
