As I recall, there is an edition with a much nicer cover (perhaps a libretto too?), but I bought this one because it was much lower priced.

Outstanding opera, one of my favourite in the entire galaxy. It makes me shudder each time I hear it.Inspired by Natalie,
I picked up my iPod and this already was loaded, so went with it. It's a studio recording and despite mixed reviews that I've read, I prefer it over the Naxos live recording.
Can never have too much Von Stade!
How come this is so highly regarded? It seems very specific to Opera Lively....

I think it's just Clayton. He just adores it. I like it but it doesn't get me in the same way as say Handel.

It (Terradellas) is stunning music, vocal and orchestral score full of beautiful rich melodies the like of which can also be heard in Pergolesi's works which I also adore.
I would say that the Neapolitan school, (including Vinci and Scarlatti) is one of my favourite areas of music, though incredibly varied the works under this label are and there are some composers where I have not been so impressed with even where some are more popular.
Juan Bautista Otero and the Real Compañía Opera de Cámara have been working specifically to revive some of the lesser known works and I have enjoyed much of what he has done so far but this work and the other Terradellas piece Sesostri are outstanding.
There is also the fact that Sunhae Im has performed in the both of these and I particularly like her voice, though this is an added bonus to the composed music.

Have you got access to spotify?
For some operas, I do sometimes go through spotify listening to the various recordings.
Like Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice for instance, I think I have listened to every one they have (that is quite a few)...
