    Now I have to agree. Ceci can be almost anything, really, but she's no Norma.

    U. Giordano, Fedora, yet another live recording with amazing Licia Albanese, Enrico di Giuseppe, Mel Rosen. The quality of this recording is horrible lol it was recorded in St. Louis back in 1961

    Thanks for the advice. Upon my first listening I found this to be extremely expressive and exciting. I was just listening on spotify and that was the first one to come up. I'll read a few reviews of this and other recordings.....

    Although Callas remains my favourite Norma, I believe the best ~all-around~ recording is the Callas-Domingo-Cossotto one: nice clear sound, nice orchestra under Cillario and everybody is great.

    I actually prefer this version - it makes sense to have the more mature Norma as a mezzo and Adalgisa as a soprano, and I believe this recording makes a case that this is returning to the original vocal casting. Also I like the idea of the Pollione being sung by a lighter Rossini tenor rather than some strutting late Verdi type (yes del Monaco, I'm thinking of you).

    But then, I don't like Norma all that much anyway.

    try Norma with Joan Sutherland. For me she is the Norma
