Well, that was the idea behind my pace when I listened to the two operas. I did drop .5 lb after that, but likely gained it all back today when I didn't walk - I decided to take one day off each week.Not good

This opera still mostly leaves me cold - other than the big duet and some of Leila's music. There don't seem to be many recordings of the opera that were made, so this might be as good as it gets.

We thought we were going to a remote beachside settlement and and we ended up next to the party house from hell. Only thing to do was plug my ears with loads of opera:

Too bad you didn't have a couple of sets of 100+ watt speakers - you could have "shared" your opera experience!

I think Gruberova is a bit past it in this recording, although the technique is of course secure. I can't see what the fuss is about (or in the Roberto Devereux i also listened to.
But Florez and Manca de Nissa were great. I always find myself more interested in the mezzo part in this opera.

I think the fuss must be about Florez, although there may be one or two Gruberova nuts in the pile.

I also think it could just be a very small number of copies printed; Nightingale is a very small company with a teeny weeny catalogue (in this case, size matters) and I think they were in a bit of a financial doo-doo (in technical accountant speak). They had their website posting the message "under construction, back soon" for about two or three years.
