One of our members is not so keen on Jacobs; thinks he's too far out...
this one is different and might take another listening to get a better picture. Amongst the vocals it's Osmin that's throwing me the most at the moment

I love this recording. It's too bad a DVD version was never released of the Vienna State Opera production with these two ladies (though I much prefer Francisco Araiza's Leicester to the tenor from that performance). Baltsa is such a fabulous actress, in addition to having a beautiful mezzo, and Gruberova's Mary is just as impressive.

It's one thing after another. First, a couple of days of frigid weather - tolerable, considering how warm it's been otherwise, but, now...
Weather people are forecasting the heaviest snow in DC in nearly 100 years. This is the south. City maybe not as bad in heavy snow as when I first moved here, but this isn't Buffalo - people will be pretty much helpless for a week (if it really happens).
I'm well-stocked on operas, and about to do a grocery run. That should keep me going unless we lose power.
Maybe it's time to go visit Festat...![]()
