This morning, while pondering today's walk - predictable, I guess:
Domingo still in fine tenor form for this set from 1989, with a sparkling Edita Gruberova singing Olympia.
Mariela Devia (Elvira), William Matteuzzi (Arturo), Christopher Robertson (Riccardo), Paolo Washington (Giorgio), Franco Federici (Walton), Eleonora Jankovic (Henrietta)
Richard Bonynge; Orchestra of the Teatro Massimo Bellini, Catania
Fabulous music; wonderful cast.
Yesterday's walk:
Unfortunately, it started to rain, albeit only intermittent sprinkling - which had not been forecast - but, having no interest in my devices getting wet, threw in the towel and took the Metro (subway) home, without finishing GD.
The good news is that spring seems to officially be on the way, a good month earlier than normal. This is from the early part of my walk, just before crossing Memorial Bridge over the Potomac:

Boo, I haven't been listening to anything because all my time is taken up with sound-heavy stuff this semester.![]()

Haha, no, I meant stuff that requires my audition because they are dependent on or exclusively sound. Things I can't do while listening to music. :/ I don't think "sound-heavy" makes much sense, I'm sorry about that.
Not really.July maybe.
Verdi's eighth opera and premièred on 12th August 1845 at Teatro San Carlo, Naples. I just love early Verdi.
A friend of mine is going to see Aida and Madama Butterfly in Teatro San Carlo. Top price tickets are £50... I think Teatro San Carlo is now on my list of houses to visit.

Top ticket prices at £50?? No wonder the Italian opera houses are in a such a state of financial distress!A friend of mine is going to see Aida and Madama Butterfly in Teatro San Carlo. Top price tickets are £50... I think Teatro San Carlo is now on my list of houses to visit.
A wonderful performance here:

Sorry, I hit the wrong button. I replied, but ended up editing instead of replying - all is back to normal.
My reply was to ask how the sound is on the recording. The couple of Gencer recordings I have are live and sound like they were taped in a filled bathtub (Pacini's Saffo and Beatrice di Tenda).
not bad on earbud. I should try in my car and get back to you.
Edit: Just tried on my low priced Koss headphones and sounds pretty decent. Not inside a bathtub, not even inside a box necessarily. Then I tried in the truck, which is only a 2001 with the base CD player, and the bass did sound a bit compressed. Higher notes were not bad. All in all, not bad for a 1964 recording IMO.
