Amici, diem perdidi - Titus Flavius when he learned that he didn't listen to any Flórez in the day that just passed
Well it was quite funny, and I liked some of the music, but it didn't seem to be very individual. The production was spectacular though - I'd love to have been in the theatre to get the full benefit of the giant figure and the lighting and projection effects.
Best in Show was Barbara Hannigan. That woman is brilliant.

No idea why would you ask, I just had to check what is this thing, quicky answering the questions I assumed I'm INFP, though I've done it quickly and without much consideration. I don't really trust or belive these compartmentalizations of people that are so popular these days.
Perhaps Greek philosophers didn't mention the fact that seeking out wonderful singers of present is great cure for this heartache.Upon realizing that I would never hear Mario del Monaco live because I was born too late, I read everything that the Greek philosophers had written about overcoming grief but my sorrow defeats all consolation.
Sounds right.

True, one can always sire more daughters.

(blown away) If Donizetti would ask me to unclog a sink for him I would feel I've received more honours than queen of England upon all her official visits. And Kraus is not much worse.
It's great recording.
SO HOW DID YOU LOVE IT
WHY should I blame her that she filled my days
With misery, or that she would of late
Have taught to ignorant men most violent ways,
Or hurled the little streets upon the great,
Had they but courage equal to desire?
What could have made her peaceful with a mind
That nobleness made simple as a fire,
With beauty like a tightened bow, a kind
That is not natural in an age like this,
Being high and solitary and most stern?
Why, what could she have done being what she is?
Was there another Troy for her to burn?
9/10 WOULD STARVE A WEEK TO SAVE MONEY TO HEAR HIM LIVE.
It's lovely, really something, though I have no point of reference as to how great a bel canto singer he is so I promptly ordered (huh) these three CDs and the rest of Florez's catalog.

Verdi may employ a Wagnerian density of orchestration, but he also adopts a Wagnerian propulsive continuity and invests it with a lively, mercurial character all his own (pretty impressive for a geriatric old man). The score may be grandiose, but I think that quality befits Falstaff's larger-than-life persona. In that sense, the grandiosity is part of the work's comic appeal.
My take on it, anyway.
And by the way, a Verdi Coriolanus would have been very cool.

Dessi, Armiliato and some very cool painstakingly handpainted trompe-l'oeil sets.

Today, I am enjoying some heavenly Renaissance polyphony from Palestrina, as sung by the Tallis Scholars. One of my favorite albums in my collection. Right now, his wonderful Missa Papae Marcelli.
