What opera have you been listening to, lately?

This morning, while trying to decide a good time to walk in cold weather. I haven't listened to this recording in a long time and, the last time I listened to Norma was when I fell.

Every Saturday a friend of mine works as a hospital radio DJ and has a classical music/opera hour. He asks for suggestions which are on YouTube and each week I suggest a bass aria. To be fair, he does usually play what I send and this week I've sent him this to play.



So of course I had to listen to the CD this morning.

Were you really on a deserted island? The only one there?

Not reeeeally deserted but pretty much, around 20 people on the whole island, 16 of which are resident Navy officers. A lot of birds, though, and one humpback whale that decided to jump a couple hundred feet away from our boat with no warning at all and spooked the life out of me.

Loving it! The Monteverdi is the earliest I have and it is very good. Can hardly wait for my Haydn Orfeo ed Euridice with Cecilia Bartoli to arrive (although that is just past Baroque, the style still seems somewhat present). I never liked Bartoli until I got into Baroque. He singing is perfect for Baroque. I probably need her Handel Rinaldo set.
