A gorgeous afternoon, so was able to get outside for a nice walk. For today's listen, I decided to give the Böhm Das Rheingold another go:
The Böhm is beautifully sung, but somehow seems to be lacking in gravitas compared with the Solti. It maybe the recording levels used in the live recordings back in the 1960s, it might be the pacing, I don't know. I will keep listening.
I am really loving this sung-in-English Ring.

Here I am getting ahead of my first watch on DVD and so not knowing the story, I can't really follow this one. That will change in the next week as I finish my Gotterdammerung DVD with subtitles.

Just checked this out of the library to listen to in the car this week:

Finished the Goodall Ring. Before I jump into the Sawallisch Ring thought I would take a break with something different:

This has been hovering on the top of my ULP for some weeks now (admittedly, I don't buy much so it was by its lonesome in the pile), but have been too distracted to load it into one of the iPod (Nanos). It's playing now, and quite lovely:

Yesterday's walk:
I hadn't listened to this in a while - I had never really warmed up to it all that much, but thoroughly enjoyed it while out for my walk yesterday afternoon.
Library check out for in the car over the next week:

Just finished this one earlier today. An excellent exposition of the wonderful
voice of Jennifer Larmore:
I do not find this as appealing as Larmore in the above.
Though Bartoli in good, I like her best in Baroque.
Italian in Algers and the Turk in Italy. What is this? Sounds like an exchange student program!
Now here I really like Cecilia Bartoli:
