While not an aversion, Sutherland just does not move me. I like her Maria Stuarda recording but only because it has Huguette Tourangeau.

Somebody was listening to this the other day so I decided to give it a spin. I actually prefer Galina to Anna in this role as I think she does young and troubled better. And of course you get the Siberian Hunky as Robert.

I have been quite pleased with the several Gergiev recordings that I own (two Boris Godunov and Khovanshchina). I got the cheap Iolanta and like it very much. I am sure the Gergiev is much better. Maybe someday I will add that to my collection.

This is a Pristine remaster featuring an on-fire Callas and duets between Callas and Giulietta Simionato that are just killer - the way their voices blend is genius. Even shouty old Mario del Monaco isn't that obtrusive here (maybe Pristine toned him down a bit...).

I am usually way too cheap to spring for Pristine recordings. This was ripped for me by old friend Dark Angel.
