I LOVE this so much I had to listen twice in a row. Gorgeous duets, lamenti, funny characters and dances worthy of Rameau; in a lively orchestration by conductor Leonardo García Alarcón. If you like late Monteverdi and Cavalli, BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT.

Is this a DVD? Amazon has the same cover picture on an item that they advertise as "hardcover" like it is a book, and then the editor's commentary says it is a CD. You mention dances, so I assume it is a DVD but I don't want to buy it from Amazon and get the wrong product.

A very nice live recording that you would hardly know is live for absence of stage and audience noises. My second listen tonight and as I recall the only applause is at the very end. Antonio Siragusa makes a great Don Ramiro; to my ears, every bit as good as Francisco Araiza.
