What opera have you been listening to, lately?

Wohlers is an excellent tenor who sings Jaquino here, and Lionel in in the You Tube of
Flotow's Martha (which I just finshed watching for the third time, it is so good).


This is not exciting me as much as it once did, so I am glad the Leontyne Price set is ordered.

I do have it. Good to just listen because it made me realise how"prokofievy" the music is, in contrast to the 18C intermezzo plot.

Offenbach: The Tales of Hoffmann
My first listen to this French opera. Sills' recording had to be my first listen. I really do like Joan Sutherland as well as Victoria De Los Angeles & Elisabeth Shwartzkopf....probably all four are in my top dozen of female opera singers. So really I'm going to have to get around to at least two other versions of this work at some point too

I am home! Listened to Cariven's Belle Helene twice on the flight (with all the shout-y dialogue bits removed) and once more when dealing with customs/retrieving checked luggage.
