Last one in the Bellini selection for now
I think I might go off to a Verdi festival today (only in my mind)

Every Wagner fan should love the Goodall Ring. 16 hours and 52 minutes of sheer bliss! Bask in it. The longest Ring. 24% longer than Bohm's Ring.

Verdi: La Forza Del Destino, conducted by Sinopli
with Rosalind Plowright, Jose Carreras, Agnes Baltsa, Renato Bruson, etc etc.
This opera was one of the first of Verdi's that I got to know, after only La Traviata and Aida. I really liked the "destiny" theme music that repeats throughout. I cut my teeth on the recording with Tebaldi, Bastianini, and Del Monaco. So while this opera is well known to me, this Sinopli recording is new to me. With only two new music purchases this year, I'm moving quickly through my to-be-listened to pile at a nice clip!
I'm listening to this because I love Ileana Cotrubas, and I'm trying to learn to love, or at least like, Alfredo Kraus. He's pretty good in this repertoire, I must admit, an elegant singer; but I find his timbre very dry.

I think I might reprogramme the Tardis and head over to Seventeenth century France now. It smells and the food is terrible but the music is good.
It was twenty-nine degrees this time last week and now it's back down to single figures. So off I went to sunnier climes in Damascus.
