I'd forgotten what a romp this is, quite funny really if you ignore the bit where Corradino orders the title character to be thrown off a cliff (she isn't). I always love it when Rossini includes bits in dialect; this time I think Neapoletan, I actually understood the spoken bits! And you can't fault the singing

When I started listening to this I realised it was very familiar - must have heard the overture a few times. Very poignant to hear Jerry Hadley singing that the world was a crueller place than he had originally thought in view of his subsequent end. Great recording.
