I have all 24 Sonnambula recordings (if there are other commercial recordings please let me know) and of them all this is the one I would keep if I could only have one.

A lovely opera I hadn't heard before - features OL interviewee (and talented and charming) Roberta Mameli as Minerva -

So in the car today I started listening to what is my favourite scene in any opera - Brünnhilde telling Siegmund that he is soon to go to Valhalla, and Siegmund first trying to find out what it is like and then refusing because Sieglinde will have to stay behind. I simply couldn't leave it and had to sit in the car in the driveway until the scene was finished.
Wagner is the only composer who can provoke a physical reaction in me - there are scenes where the hairs on my arms stand up, and this is one (Siegfried's death march is another). And what a cast - the first four mentioned below are some of my favourite singers. Does any one else think Anja Kampe is under-appreciated?
Wagner: Die Walküre
Nina Stemme (Brünnhilde), René Pape (Wotan), Jonas Kaufmann (Siegmund), Anja Kampe (Sieglinde), Ekaterina Gubanova (Fricka), Mikhail Petrenko (Hunding)
Mariinsky Orchestra, Valery Gergiev

^^^^^Yes SF, I think Kampe is very good too.
I have her in this and like it very much.

This one isn't quite as good as his 2nd recording
which also has magnificent sound.
now i thought this first one was "different" but this next one WOW! it has ballet-circus acting and modern dance. very weird. i like the magic flute and just posting these weird ones. this is weird. and the crowd clapped before the queen finished her 2nd Aria. ya know the big one. the crowd was clapping before she was finished strange
