This is a gem, but I recommend the DVD first as you really have to watch it. I like it sung in German better but it is nice in English to follow along.

Love the part where Mr. Stone, the dean of the school, who does not like music is infected by a Globolink and the music teacher tries to save him by getting him to sing "la" over and over, where the only other thing that comes out his mouth is electronic noises like a Globolink. He desperately continues to sing la for the rest of the opera but is lost in the end anyway.

    This sounds fun!

Is this the DVD? Is German the original language?

Edit: I've found it on YouTube!

∆ Yes, that video and the YouTube are it! Wikipedia says: "Help, Help, the Globolinks! is an opera in four scenes by Gian Carlo Menotti with an original English libretto by the composer."

Yes, it's the DVD, the opera is in English, and I think I reviewed this DVD in the modern/contemporary section.

Yes you did, and I liked it there on July 20th: Here is the review.

    La donna del lago

A really old production but I'm enjoying it.

I also have the Haitink Tannhäuser -- wonderful cast, and I find Klaus König easier on the ears than Robert Gambill in the video from Baden Baden.

I also have this one from 1972,

but I think the sound is a bit better on the Haitink set. Other than that I have Heger, which is probably not a top rated set.
