Attachment 12107
It seems like forever since I've listened to this. My opera listening dropped off completely when I stopped walking a couple of years ago - in the midst of one of those Polar Vortex things. It's amazing to listen to Sutherland and Pavarotti's voices in 1966 - so accurate and effortless.
So, now Hoffmann is Home Alone and in residence in Rancho Mirage, CA.
Now that I suddenly find myself with way too much time on my hands - not exactly what I had in mind when I moved out here - having planned to hang out with my friends. Things have a way of taking unexpected turns, don't they? I've managed to somehow stay away from the virus to this point, but worry every time I need to venture to the supermarket.
However, it's beautiful here and I have a lovely view of the mountains from my den (over the pool...), so there's that. Like everyone else, I've have had my wings clipped - so, with no travel for at least the foreseeable future (if not beyond...), so have returned, if sporadically, to my otherwise forsaken opera listening. I had been invited to Berlin in June - summer opera there stopped a couple of years ago (I think when I saw Luiz there 2 years ago was the last year - the schedule for last summer stopped at the end of June), so was to include a concert in the Mecklenburg lake district, which was cancelled. Elizabeth then decided it would be safer in Hong Kong and was scheduled to return there a week ago. June still is too soon to contemplate overseas travel, so would not have made the trip.
Still in question are a few trips on my schedule - my nephew's wedding (early September), Chile in November and Paris immediately following for the new Calixto Bieto Paris Ring (which, I am guessing, will be delayed if it hasn't been already).
