Actually, the TDK version. But, I always like to post when I watch something all the way through. It was short, of course. I could have done without all the churchy scenes, but the setting was beautiful and I found Ms Komlosi's performance compelling. I'd have to leave it to the experts to say how great of a singer she is, but I loved her voice and her acting was superb.
I don't know about his Tristan, but his Tannhäuser from Baden Baden definitely has problems in the upper register. In his lower and midranges, he's fine, but as soon as the writing takes him into the upper reaches of his voice, the poor guy tends to remind me of Bert Lahr's Cowardly Lion singing, "I'm the King of the Forest."![]()
Before Meyerbeer did his french grand operas he worked in italian bel canto, this a really great treat at bargain prices
Furtwangler Rome Ring
Bohm's Capriccio
Excellent live (!) recording of one of my favorite operas. Superb singing from Klaus Florian Vogt and Tatiana Pavlovskaya.

If you know the Leinsdorf/Kollo/Neblett recording, how do you think it compares?
I am a big fan of Klaus Florian Vogt, so I want to hear this.
I heard Rene Kollo sing Lohengrin, which was my first Wagner opera, in 1975. He was in good voice that night and I've had a weak spot for him since.
I've been interested in opera in french recently.
