I first noticed Marianne Crebassa, a young French mezzo, in a recent production of Lucio Silla. She is now as Cherubino in Vienna, the very essence of a boy in love with all women.

She's having raving reviews for her Dorabella in Marseille. I wish we had a video.

Nicole Car. The young lady (almost a decade older than me) from the Onegin that myself and Clayton both had the chance to see back in December (the great vocal/acting performance that Mr Holten's staging did his best to distract from).

Lots of other videos of her on YouTube but Puccini.

Sounds as though this young man should have a major career ahead of him.

Very beautiful voice. All the right notes, well-controlled, beautiful timbre. He could use a bit better dynamic variation, dropping to lower volume in certain lines for a more emotional and delicate delivery. He is young and should improve even more. Very promising.

At this stage he seems to be revelling in his ability to sing high and forte, hehe.

    Dinara Aliyeva and Vasily Ladyuk

Dinara Aliyeva (or Alieva, as her name is also transcribed from Russian) was mentioned here as one of the prospective young opera singers - here is a fine recording of the "Opera Live" concert she gave with Vasily Ladyuk in Moscow in 2016:

Sungmin Song (how's that for a great opera singer name) has just appeared in Saarbrücken's Guillaume Tell. While his rendition of this fiendishly difficult aria is a wee bit rough (3 hours into the opera though, not a studio recording), he has a really beautiful voice and great musicality. This was his first solo role, starting very ambitious, although I suspect he is part of the Saarbrücken ensemble and might not have much choice.

    Watch this space.

Why just watch a 11 minute excerpt when the video of whole opera is available too?
