So, I finally did the Met Backstage Tour as part of my trip this weekend, and Roberto Alagna called our tour guide with the Facetime app so that he could wave "hi" to us. What a nice guy!

Indeed. Roberto is one of the nicest singers I've ever encountered. I'm glad that you feel the same way, since I really like him.

According to a small item in the March issue of Das Opernglas, Camilla Nylund is slated to sing the Kaiserin in Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Vienna State Opera next year. Christian Thielemann will be on the podium, with Alvis Hermanis directing. And Jonas Kaufmann is supposed to sing the Emperor!! Sony or Warner: video recording, please!!

You know, I really don't mind about it being 'too highbrow'......there is no such thing as 'too highbrow', actually. I don't think we should EVER 'talk down' to people who are less well-informed about opera, we should encourage them to become better informed!!

But I am shocked to read that someone thinks Boccelli is the best because he paid so much to hear him!!!

Got 19 out of 20, though I'd never heard of most of those cheeses (and by the descriptions of some of them, don't care to make their acquaintance, either!).

Well done! Some of those cheeses sound totally disgusting!!

    Frightful quiz!
This cheese isn't for the weak-stomached. Casu marzu is a traditional Sardinian cheese – literally meaning 'rotten cheese', it contains live maggots. Mmm.

Would you do it again if offered today? Just the thought of it could turn the stomach.

Yeah. I'll eat anything that doesn't eat me first. So, live crocodiles and live tigers are out; otherwise, anything goes.

I missed one as I checked the wrong button

I love cheese and opera equally and I wouldn't tell either one which is my favourite. They'll both just have to wait to see what's in the will.

How about someone should write an opera about cheese. They have one about oranges, so why not cheese?
