I'm two days late with this one . . . On Sunday, tenor Francisco Araiza celebrated his 70th birthday. At the beginning of his career, he established an international reputation as an interpreter of roles by Mozart and Rossini; later, he moved into progressively heavier roles, from Faust and Hagenbach (La Wally) to Verdi, Puccini, and German Romantic parts such as Max and Florestan.
