La Boheme, concert performance Concertgebouw Amsterdam

I know it's a concert performance, but they could have made a little more effort. Still, musically it's very good. Musetta, sung by Valentina Naforniţă, almost steals the show. She won Cardiff 2011, she's on my singers to watch list now.

Very impressive is the silence after the end. The conductor (yes, it's Mr. Garanca) slowly lowers his hands, and the fantastic audience understands the need for silence. Everyone stays in that sad moment for quite some time, after that a well deserved standing ovation.

Strange elaborate busy regie production with mixed results for me, I really dislike these all black and white productions (why no color?)

I saw the broadcast a few days ago and I loved it strangely enough. I saw the pic earlier and was all prepared to hate it. But just goes to show that I need to see a production first before commenting.

I propose that we post the above words--in large font, all caps, and boldface--at the beginning of every thread about current directors and productions.
