I like this one especially because of Eva Mei:

The whole opera with von Stade--and with subtitles in English! This one is absolutely wonderful through and through.

But think how powerful it will be when Violetta sings "Vesti La Giubba"!

    Oh wait . . .

I have no idea if this has been already posted, but as someone who have just recently listened to Elektra, and hated it, this video made me like it very very much. Elektra is to be watched and listened, it just doesn't work as a recoding (audio), at least for me...

That's a great Così! For me it is the best updated staging so far, I like it much better than the 2009 Salzburg one, directed by Claus Guth, that gets so much praise in spite of Bo Skovhus. The asthma attack during Smanie implacabile gets me everytime.

Here is an old TV edition of the Flying Dutchman, sung in English, and staring Gwyneth Jones:

Video quality is not the greatest, but here is a video that has the same production where Senta sings the ballad in somewhat better image quality.

This is an opera that I'm revisiting and it's taking more and more of my time!

I really like Duke Bluebeard's Castle, which surprises even me, considering my general aversion to modern works.

I saw a wonderful production (well, I thought it was wonderful) in LA a year ago that was very spare on a huge revolving platform but with surprising and interesting effects. It was done in conjunction with the opening opera Dido and Aeneas, which also was terrific.

I spent years bludgeoning myself with Italian opera...I can eat Verdi all day, but lately I have been listening to various different operas just to 'eat some new foods an learn some new tastes' - Palestrina with Wunderlich is great and the full version is online and this is a nice production...
