Are you trying to access them from a mobile phone (smartphone), or with a PC/laptop/tablet ???

I'm sure it's geographical. NZ if often geoblocked by French and German sites. If for some reason I use a VPN (which slows everything down to snail pace, I'll have another go).

Funnily enough, this web.tv server seems to be based in Turkey. The chief reason why this site is more lax with the copyright issues

With subtitles. I can recommend this YouTube account.

Found this Fidelio and it sounds like it is not in German. Anyone know what language it is?

Romanian? It sounds east European but I heard the word ""curaj" which is courage. Sena might know as it's her neck of the woods.

I couldn't say from listening, but it looks like the singers in the credits have Hungarian names.

It is Hungarian, and if you run the comments under it through Google Translate this is what comes out. BTW, in Hungarian language they traditionally write family name first and only then first name (thus e.g. Erdélyi Miklós would be Miklós Erdélyi - Google Translate took care of this):

It is a pity that the beginning of the overture is missed!

Thank you very much for uploading! This is the only Fidelio version in the Hungarian language.

Somehow the name of the conductor is missed ...

Eszter Tariska was written at the beginning

    Miklós Erdélyi conducts.

A little bit more detective work (googled with the opera name, composer and singers names) gave this as a result:

    http://indavideo.hu/video/Beethoven_...gyar_operafilm

Google translate at work again with the information section:

Florestan, special statehood - András Molnár (tenor)
Fidelio-Leonora, his wife - Etelka Csavlek (mezzosoprán)
Rocco, brutal and snout - Gregor József (bass)
Marcellina, daughter of Rocco - Éva Báthori (soprano)
Jacquino, jail captain - Mukk József (tenor)
Pizzaro, Prison Director - Sólyom-Nagy Sándor (baritone)
Don Fernando, Minister of Police - István Gáti (contrabariton)

    MÁV Symphony Orchestra
    Hungarian State Opera House Chorus
    Conductor: Miklós Erdélyi

    Directed by: Miklós Szinetár
    Made in 1991

It sounds as though they're using Roccos Erzählung in place of the dialogue here, too.
